The treatment for lung cancer depends on the type of lung cancer and what stage the cancer is in. The overall health of the patient is also taken into consideration by doctors when choosing treatment options.

For Small Cell lung cancer, treatment can include a combination of or just one of the following:
  • Chemotherapy for Small Cell Lung Cancer
  • Immunotherapy for Small Cell Lung Cancer
  • Radiation Therapy for Small Cell Lung Cancer
  • Surgery for Small Cell Lung Cancer
  • Palliative Procedures for Small Cell Lung Cancer

For Non-Small Cell lung cancer, treatment can include a combination of or just one of the following:
  • Surgery for Non-Small Cell Lung Cancer
  • Radiofrequency Ablation (RFA)for Non-Small Cell Lung Cancer
  • Radiation Therapy for Non-Small Cell Lung Cancer
  • Chemotherapy for Non-Small Cell Lung Cancer
  • Targeted Drug Therapy for Non-Small Cell Lung Cancer
  • Immunotherapy for Non-Small Cell Lung Cancer
  • Palliative Procedures for Non-Small Cell Lung Cancer

Once all the factors including type of cancer and overall health of patient are evaluated, the patient and doctor come up with the best treatment plan customized foreach individual patient.

November is Lung Cancer Awareness month!

This month we are sharing information all about Lung Cancer.
Lung cancer causes more deaths than any other type of cancer in the world. Over 130,000 Americans die of lung cancer each year.

There are 2 types of lung cancer:
  • Small cell lung cancer is less common than non-small cell lung cancer and is mainly found in smokers.
  • Non-small cell lung cancer includes a variety of different types of cancers that aren’t small cell lung cancer.

The Good News
Luckily, due to lung cancer research, deaths from lung cancer have been decreasing in recent years. This is why we have Lung Cancer Awareness Month to help raise funds for lung cancer research. In some cases, having lung cancer can be fatal, but there is hope.
