Black History Month Event

2/20/2026

We were invited to the Black History Month event at our local Ben Robertson Community Center on February 7th. This event featured an art gallery with local artists including our very own Creative Director Carlos Perez. They also hosted performances, local Black businesses, and local schools to bring the community together.

We had wonderful time meeting members of our community and local artists and bringing Lung Girl to them. Thank you for the support!

Happy New Year and
Happy Birthday to Sid (Jan 2nd)!

We hope you and your loved ones had a wonderful and prosperous new year. 2025 was a big year for our organization as it marked 10 years of The Sid Foundation. We accomplished many of our goals in 2025 and are looking forward to our new goals for 2026.

In 2025, we…
  1. Donated $1000 to the University of Kentucky hospital Lung Transplant program to support lung transplant research and help lung transplant patients pay medical bills.
  2. Celebrated our 10 year anniversary by planting an oak tree in memory of Sid Vahal. This is a forever tree that will be maintained by the park where it was planted forever.
  3. Held several fundraisers along with our first digital fundraiser on the Whatnot platform. We found a whole new community on Whatnot that supported our mission and helped us raise funds by participating in our #commissionsforacause initiative.
  4. Mailed out more care packages to lung transplant recipients and folks with lung health issues around the country.
  5. Attended community events to help us raise awareness and funds for our mission.
  6. Received an S&S Activewear grant for the 4th year in a row!
  7. Ended the year by hosting our 3rd annual Lung Girl Day at Syndicate Comics & Collectibles! Our community showed up once again, to support us during this event.

In 2026, we plan to…
  1. Continue organizing fundraisers around the community.
  2. Continue mailing out care packages to folks in need around the country.
  3. We will attend more community oriented events to continue raising awareness within our community and around the country.
  4. We will continue to donate funds towards lung transplant research and to lung transplant patients to help them with medical bills.
  5. We plan to continue hosting more online fundraisers on Whatnot.
  6. We plan to share more stories of lung transplant patients.
  7. We plan to apply for more grants to help us support our work.
  8. We will host our 4th annual Lung Girl Day as well!

We would not have been able to accomplish any of our goals and fulfill our mission without the support of our community. Thank you so much for supporting our work and helping lung transplant patients breathe a little easier!

Supporting Lung Transplant Patients at UKY

10/17/2025

One way we support lung transplant research and patients is by donating regularly to the University of Kentucky (UKY) hospital lung transplant program.

This year, in January, we donated $1000 dollars to the UKY lung transplant program to support lung transplant research and patients.

How was the donation used?
Our donation was used in multiple ways to:
  • Cover the cost of post discharge medications for patients to bridge the gap until prescription insurance became active.
  • Cover the cost of transportation for patients to critical appointments.
  • Cover costs of  lodging for care givers to stay close to their loved ones while they were inpatient.

This would not have been possible without our donors and community support. Thank you for donating directly or purchasing Lung Girl comics, art commissions, and/or other merchandise to help us raise funds to support these lung transplant patients!

Your support is helping lung transplant patients breathe a little easier.

WhatNot Fundraiser

On Wednesday, May 28th, Prime Vice Studios went live on WhatNot for the first time to raise funds for The Sid Foundation at the Syndicate Comics & Collectibles comic shop.

We began streaming without scheduling a show ahead of time just to test out WhatNot and learn how it works. The response from the WhatNot community was way bigger than we could have imagined!
We began the #commissionsforacause livestream at 2pm. About 3 hours later, we raised over $200!

A huge thank you to Syndicate Comics & Collectibles for the space and support. Thank you to everyone that stopped by and commissioned us on WhatNot. We received a warm welcome into this new community.
We’ll be doing more fundraisers on WhatNot soon and will be scheduling shows ahead of time so you can plan to be there.

The Sid Foundation is 10 years old!

How Are  We Celebrating 10 Years?
You're all invited to celebrate 10 great years with us!
To celebrate 10 years of raising over $75,000 helping lung transplant patients and funding lung transplant research, we are planting a memorial tree for Sid Vahal.

Why a Tree?
By planting a tree, we can help our community breathe a little better and plant some roots for Sid's legacy. The park will maintain the tree forever so that Sid's memory can live forever.

Where and When?
The Tree Planting and the Tree Planting Party will take place on Friday, May 16th.
We will provide more details about the event in the coming weeks.
Follow us on Instagram or FB for more details about the event.

How Can I Participate?
You can participate in Sid's memorial tree planting in several ways:

1. You can attend the tree planting or the tree planting party on May 16th.

2. You can purchase a t-shirt of the tree planting event to help us fundraise.

3. You can donate to help us with the event.
