The Sid Foundation Marketing Intern Arian Granillo
My name is Arian Granillo. I'm 24 years old and I was born and raised in Phoenix, Arizona. I studied marketing at Arizona State University and graduated in spring 2023. I’ve been a marketing intern at The Sid Foundation since November 2023. I’ve had the privilege to combine my passion for marketing and helping people during their lung health journey. Through creating social media posts and flyers, reaching out to lung transplant patients, creating a care package campaign, and utilizing google ads. I’m genuinely filled with gratitude for the opportunity to make a meaningful impact with this organization. The Sid Foundation resonated deeply with my values and aspirations. Prior to interning at The Sid Foundation I interned remotely for a restaurant helping run their Instagram by creating and posting weekly content to help build foot traffic and online engagement. My long term career goal is to work as a creative director for a company that shares the same values as I do. My objective is to craft advertisements that not only capture attention but also capture hearts, that leaves a lasting impact on both individuals and businesses.

When I’m not planning or working on projects for The Sid Foundation, I’m working in an office at a delivery and logistics company and I am also a nanny! When I’m not juggling work commitments, I love being outdoors and doing activities such as hiking. I’m a coffee enthusiast since I spent my college years being a barista so I love to try new coffee shops around the valley in my free time. Additionally, I love going to concerts to see some of my favorite bands and artists.

Learn more about my work here.

Arian has been a great help at our organization. She has jump started our TikTok page, brought new life to all our social media platforms, and created an ad that helped us greatly  increase our care package requests from lung transplant patients all over the country. Thank you for your fantastic work, Arian!

If you are interested in interning or volunteering with The Sid Foundation, please email us at [email protected].

Happy New Year and Happy Birthday to Sid!

Picture
As many of you know, at The Sid Foundation, we begin each year by celebrating Sid Vahal’s birthday on January 2nd. Today, Sid would have been 39 years old. To learn more about his story, click here.

We hope the new year brings joy and prosperity to you all. In celebration of the new year, we would like to recap our 2023 accomplishments and share our goals for 2024 with you.

2023 Accomplishments
We had a very exciting year with many accomplishments.
  1. We attended many events this year: Athens FanFest 2023, Free Comic Book Day at Syndicate Comics & Collectables, and Comic Fiesta 2023 at Syndicate Comics & Collectables.
  2. We organized and hosted our first annual Lung Girl Day! Our community showed up for us and helped us raise $500 in 4 hours!
  3. We relaunched our care package program last year. This year, we began sending out care packages to lung transplant patients around the world.
  4. We sold more Lung Girl comics than ever before! Because of all the events we were able to attend this year, we made record sales.
  5. We were finally able to connect with our community in person by attending and hosting events. Nothing compares to meeting you all in person and hearing your stories. Thank you for showing up and supporting us!
  6. Trader Joes began to sponsor our events again this year by providing snacks.
  7. We received the S&S Activewear grant again! They are once again sponsoring our Lung Transplant Care Package Program as well.
  8. Raised the highest amount of funds this year since the pandemic.

2024 Goals
We are aiming even higher for our goals for 2024.
  1. Continue participating in community events.
  2. Host the second Lung Girl Day event.
  3. Continue to increase Lung Girl comics sales.
  4. Prepare another 25 care packages to send out to lung transplant patients around the country.
  5. Share more stories of individual lung transplant patients and hold fundraisers to help them pay medical bills.
  6. Apply for more grants. We were very excited to receive more grants in 2023. We will continue to apply for more grants to help us fund our work.
  7. Donate to lung transplant research programs around the country again. We had to pause this program due to pandemic. Our goal is to restart this program in 2024.
  8. Increase individual donations and corporate sponsors.

We are excited to get to work on these goals and have full confidence that we can achieve them with your support.

Once again, a huge thank you to our individual donors and corporate sponsors for continuing to support our work and our community. Thank you for helping lung transplant patients breathe a little easier.

If you would like to help us grow and continue supporting lung transplant patients, please donate.

They donated merchandise for our employees and volunteers such as hats, hoodies, and t-shirts.

Also, once again, they are sponsoring our lung transplant patient care package program by donating 25 drawstring bags, socks, and face masks!

This was our first annual Lung Girl Day so we didn't know what to expect.

Our community showed up for us and blew all our expectations out of the water.
We raised $500 in 4 hours!

We had the support of Syndicate Comics and Collectables, our local artists, MM Comics and Collectables, Kennesaw State University faculty and students, Trader Joes, Prime Vice Studios, friends, family, and our local community. Thank you for playing your part in helping this become one of our most successful and fun events ever. Thank you for helping lung transplant patients with your hard work and donations. We could not have done this without you!

Take a look at these videos to see what our local artists worked on. For more pictures and videos and to see finished art pieces, head over to our Instagram.
