As many of you know, at The Sid Foundation, we begin each year by celebrating Sid Vahal’s birthday on January 2nd. Today, Sid would have been 40 years old. To learn more about his story, click here.
In celebration of the new year, we would like to recap our 2024 accomplishments and share our goals for 2025 with you.

2024 Accomplishments
We had a very exciting year with many accomplishments.
  1. We attended some events this year: Athens FanFest 2024 and Free Comic Book Day at Syndicate Comics & Collectibles. Thank you to our community for showing up and supporting us!
  2. We also organized and hosted our second annual Lung Girl Day! Once again, we were humbled by the support of our community for this event.
  3. We sent out several care packages to lung transplant recipients around the country.
  4. We sold more Lung Girl comics this year which helped us raise funds for our lung transplant patient program.
  5. Trader Joes sponsored our events again this year by providing snacks and water for our staff, volunteers, and guests.
  6. We received the S&S Activewear grant again! They provided merchandise for our staff, volunteers, and supporters for the third year in a row.
  7. Last, but not least, we donated $1000 to support lung transplant research at the University of Kentucky Hospital Lung Transplant Program.

2025 Goals
We are aiming even higher for our goals for 2025.
  1. Continue participating in community events.
  2. Host our third annual Lung Girl Day event.
  3. Continue to increase Lung Girl comics sales.
  4. Prepare and ship more care packages to lung transplant patients around the country.
  5. Share more stories of individual lung transplant recipients and hold fundraisers to help them pay medical bills.
  6. Apply for more grants. We're very grateful for the grants we received in 2024. We will continue to apply for more grants to help us fund our work.
  7. Donate more funds to lung transplant research than we did in 2024.
  8. Increase individual donations and corporate sponsors.

We are excited to get to work on these goals and have full confidence that we can achieve them with your support.
Once again, a huge thank you to our individual donors, corporate sponsors, and community for continuing to support our work. Thank you for helping lung transplant patients breathe a little easier.

If you would like to help us grow and continue supporting lung transplant patients, please donate now.

We hope the new year brings peace, joy, and prosperity to you all!
