In 2017, The Sid Foundation made some great strides in community service and fundraising and it’s all thanks to our dedicated donors and supporters! Here is a recap of everything we did… The first half of 2017 was spent in planning, fundraising, and production: We began planning all of our events for the second half of the year, we continued raising funds and we began the production of Lung Girl #2! The second half of the year was full of events: In July, we completed production and printing of Lung Girl #2. Go to the Lung Girl page to learn more about the comic. Lung Girl #2 In September, we launched Lung Girl #2 and raised funds and awareness through sales and donations at the Ohio State University comic conventions (SolCon/Cartoon Crossroads Columbus). Read this blog to learn more about this event. Sol-Con 2017 and CXC 2017 In October, we hosted the Free Family Day at the Museum of Design Atlanta (MODA). We held an hour-long laughter yoga session and a comic book design workshop for the community. We also had our usual Lung Transplant Trivia challenge (with 1 winner), lots of giveaways, and King of Pops. Check out this blog to see all the fun we had there! We held 3 laughter yoga sessions, had our usual Lung Transplant Trivia challenge (with 3 winners), and lots of giveaways. Check out this blog to see what we did. We also donated a cooler full of King of Pops popsicles to the Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta Egleston Hospital. In December, we were able to donate $5000 to the University of Kentucky Lung Transplant program along with 150 Lung Girl comics. The donation was split between funding lung transplant research and assisting lung transplant patients with financial needs. The comics were donated for patients with lung issues and for their families to read in the waiting rooms. Read this blog to learn more about the program. The Sid Foundation was founded in May 2015 with the goal of raising funds and awareness for lung transplant research. We have been successfully raising awareness in the community since 2015.
